The Two Smiley Volunteers

The Two Smiley Volunteers- Chelsea and Jess- have been helping out at The Mlambe Project, and we really couldn't thank them enough.

Their energy and enthusiasm have been incredible, and the children have become completely attached to their loving characters. With Chelsea spending a whole month out in the village, and Jess two weeks, the girls have had lot's of time to really make an impact.

Read on to find out what they got up to...

The girls have been running their own After School Clubs, in which children from all years get to be creative with pencils, pens and paint, most of which they have never used before, and also play outdoor games and sports.

Jess has been providing some specialist first-aid training, a much needed skill!

We caught up with Jess to hear about her time at the project:

"What I have learnt most is how kind and happy the children can be, brightening up my day 100 fold, and how grateful they are for the after school activities we have been running. I love watching them being able to explore their imagination when they are drawing and painting with the crayons, pens and pencils; and how happy they are when they leave. My time in the village has also shown me a lot about how little people have in this world, but yet somehow they make things work!"

The girls have also been researching for our innovations team back in the UK, their help will be paramount to their work this year!

So, on behalf of everyone at Malawi, especially the children who have learnt so much from you- THANK YOU!

We are always looking for exceptional and enthusiastic volunteers. If you like the sound of being a volunteer out at The Mlambe Project, please get in touch with lucy@themlambeproject.org
