Run Mlambe Stall at Glastonbury 2017

Role Background

Due to unforeseen circumstances with previous volunteer - we are re-advertising this opportunity up to 31st May 2017.

The Mlambe Project (registered charity number 1160518) is seeking an exceptional and committed individual to lead the project management of its fundraising and awareness-raising initiative stall at Glastonbury.

In the past the charity has run a hugely successful stall at Glastonbury Festival which has used a variety of initiatives to raise both money and awareness for the charity. This year, we want to offer one lucky person the chance to project manage the initiative and create, plan and run the stall at the festival.

The position would entail roughly 20 hours before the festival starts in order to make preparations, source items and design the stall. You will be given a budget and the freedom to get creative and make the stall your own!

You will get a staff ticket to the festival and be able to recruit 2 other volunteers to help. There will be an opportunity for you and your team to have your ticket cost and other expenses covered, dependent on the success of the stall. It is a great chance to boost your CV and with the potential of taking up a longer term voluntary role within the organisation (including trips to Malawi). You will be able to get creative on an exciting Glastonbury stall with the knowledge that you are giving something back to a worthwhile cause.

You will receive full support from the charity who can help provide any informative documents etc.

Role Responsibilities

  • Create a logical, time-phased strategy for the Glastonbury stall which clearly outlines your budget, stock take and targets.

  • Recruiting 3 volunteers (or 2 volunteers and yourself) to support the event and attend Glastonbury and work on the stall – tickets will need to be paid prior to the festival

  • Working with your recruits to make comprehensive preparations prior to the festival.

  • Liaising with the Fundraising team to keep them abreast of your plans and to ensure smooth running of the event

  • Ensuring all costs/budget spent are covered through sales at the festival/donations to the charity.

  • Commitment to the festival site for 5 days at least.

  • Co-ordinating the volunteers itinerary during the 3-4 days of Glastonbury (i.e. rota for working hours - the stall needs to be open and manned between 10am-6pm)

  • Ensuring the safety and security of all event participants; ensuring all event plans are rigorously risk assessed, etc

  • Management for the complete erection and dismantlement of the stall at beginning and end of festival.

Please note - our volunteer tickets can not be bought sold or exchanged.
