An update from Lucy's move to Malawi!

At the end of January, our wonderful CEO Lucy Ifould moved out to Malawi to become The Mlambe Project's first full-time paid member of staff. Having someone with such great expertise living on the ground in close proximity to the project is an amazing development for us as a charity.

Lucy has caught up with us recently to let us know how she is finding life back in Malawi:

"Being back in the village is amazing. Landscape wise everything looks so different, I’ve never seen it so green before, there is maize everywhere which is incredible to see after the drought and flood of previous years.

With all the green and all the rain there is so much more life around. The goats are having a great time with so much to eat! The rains are still coming every now and then and I forgot how loud it is when your sleeping under iron sheets!

Otherwise, life has carried on much the same here (and there’s no talk of Trump here!) I’m so used to being here now it just feels really normal to be back and eating nsima. All of the buildings are looking great and its good to see the Earthbag store room which we started building when we were all out here in September finally finished.

The University students are working hard as ever. They are all doing so well, which is particularly commendable given the frequent challenges with the internet out here. There has been lots to discuss with Steven and Geoffrey about our upcoming plans for the year and it’s exciting to see how its all shaping up!"

Keep up to date with our blog to see how Lucy is getting on!
