So 2017 is going to be a really exciting year for us at The Mlambe Project. We have loads of really innovative projects on the horizon, and our scale up- taking on 17 new volunteers in a variety of roles- means we will be expanding our operations substantially. Most excitingly of all however, is that our new fearless leader and Chief Executive Lucy Ifould is relocating to the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe. Lucy is already a veteran of the charity and has spent over a year across several trips living in Chikolongo village, both working with our team at the school and with the wider community. We’re really excited about having someone with her expertise and experience on the ground – almost as excited as she is!

Before she moved out on the 24th, Lucy had these words to say:
'"The move out to Malawi is extremely exciting both on a personal level and for the organisation. I feel incredibly lucky to be the first full-time paid employee from the UK side. The start of this year has seen a large organisation scale up with the recruitment of 17 new voluntary positions in the UK to support the expansion of the charity, which is great news for us. Being based in Malawi will enable me to closely oversee the operations on the ground, vastly improve our reaction to challenges as they unfold, and send regular progress updates to everyone in the UK. I’ll be living in the capital with our fantastic Education Programme Director -Stefan Karakashian- while making regular trips to Mlambe, so I won’t miss any of the amazing progress that’s being made by our outstanding team. More than anything I can’t wait to get back to spending time with the community in the village. Tisao Na Na!"
All of us here in the UK wish her the very best and we can’t wait to reap the benefits of her love and commitment to the project.
